The Dêrîn Peshmerga are the latest to protest KDP-AKP’s attack on Shengal, which they said serve the Turkish state.
The Dêrîn Peshmerga (former peshmergas) Association members issued a statement on the attack on Shengal in Nali Park in Sulaymaniyah.
Kamil Mihemed read the statement in the name of the Dêrîn Peshmerga and pointed out that new destruction was underway in Shengal while hundreds of villages remain unbuilt.
The statement read: “We are calling on all of the Kurdish people to stop this war. Don’t fight among brothers in front of the invaders of Kurdistan. All should take to the streets and stand against the fight among brothers fanned by external powers.”
Derya Ömer from the Dêrîn Peshmerga said the following:
“When I saw the two guerrillas jumping in front of the armored vehicles so there won’t be war, I was reminded of the time the Baath regime soldiers came to destroy us in 1988. All should stand against this war that foreign powers are involved in. As the Kurdistan Dêrîn Peshmerga Association, we are expressing our protest against this war. We hope nobody will even consider a war among brothers.”
A martyr’s father, Zahid Mihemed said the following:
“As families of February 17 martyrs, we are against a civil war in any form. We condemn the Turkish state and their accomplice the KDP. We are calling on the people of Kurdistan to not allow the war they want to start among Kurds. We are calling on the KDP to not aid the Turkish state and to not enter the lands of Kurdistan, for the lands of Kurdistan are sacred.”
