Displaced people of Shengal cannot return home due to KDP's attacks

Aştî Camp representative Bişar Elî stated that the Êzidî people in Sulaymaniyah are preparing to go back home but cannot return because of KDP's attack on Shengal.

Êzidî residents staying in the Aştî Camp in Sulaymaniyah protest and condemn the KDP forces' attack on Khanasor town as they cannot go back home because of these attacks.

Speaking to ANF, the camp representative Bişar Elî stated that he went to Khanasor to observe the situation on demand of the 250 Êzidî families staying in the camp.

"THE KDP ATTACK ON SHENGAL OBSTRUCTS OUR RETURN"

Elî told the followings: "The attacks on Khanasor have affected all the Êzidîs, including the people staying in our camp which houses many people from Khanasor and Sinûne. Dozens of families in our camp were preparing to return to Shengal until this attack occurred. However, the people at Aştî Camp are now unwilling to return after the KDP's attack. We are still waiting for our villages to be liberated. Conditions at the camp are severe, mainly in winter when it is quite cold. We cannot stand it and we do not want to live away from Shengal anymore."

MESSAGE OF THE CAMP RESIDENTS

Elî continued, relaying the following message of the Êzidî people in Aştî Camp: "The KDP forces should liberate our villages instead of killing our people. We know that these forces have no power against the ISIS. This is why they attack and massacre our people."

"OUR PEOPLE WON'T LET THE ATTACKS GO UNANSWERED"

Demanding an urgent end to the conflict in Shengal, Aştî Camp representative Bişar Elî said the followings: "We call on all the relevant forces to not fight against their brothers and sisters. We want those forces on the Êzidî land to turn back to their own land. Our people do not need them to defend themselves. Our people are powerful enough to not let the attacks go unanswered."
