Democratic Society Congress (DTK) issued a written statement on the arrests of Amed Co-Mayors Gültan Kışanak and Fırat Anlı and Free Women’s Congress Spokeswoman Ayla Akat Ata, and the closures of Kurdish media organizations.
In its statement, DTK emphasized that the democratic gains, life spaces and institutions of Kurdish people, which have been won after many sacrifices during the struggle for equality and freedom, are being taken away as people’s will is being ignored.
'THE GROWING STRUGGLE INTERPRETED AS THE COLLAPSE OF THE SYSTEM'
DTK emphasized that the state system based on the denial of society has reached the level of fascism, and said that this system "is seizing all social values, carrying out new massacres and targeting the opposition. With cruel methods, it is deepening the chaos and preventing the channels of democratic politics from functioning. Kurdish political organizations are marginalized and politicians are sent to prison.
Kurdish women and their institutions, who lead the struggle in Kurdistan and Turkey, are the main target of AKP’s state fascism that increases its attacks because it has the interpretation of the growing and organized struggle for freedom and equality as the collapse of its fascist and statist system.
