As the onslaught by Turkish forces continues in the town in its 41st day, a cannon shell fired by Turkish forces hit a house where 15 people were taking shelter, including Cizre People's Council co-chair, which left at last 10 of them wounded. Kurdish daily Azadiya Welat Editor Rohat Aktaş who is long in the town to follow the aggression is among those who suffered injuries.

While DBP Assembly member Mehmet Yavuzel remains in life-threatening condition, the wounded are yet to be taken to hospital yet due to the ongoing heavy bombardment.

Rohat is the second journalist to suffer wounds in the offensive by Turkish state forces. On 20 January, IMC TV cameraman and journalist Refik Tekin was also shot and wounded as a result of fire opened from armored vehicles that targeted civilians carrying casualties from Cudi neighborhood.
