HPG Media Center issued a written statement on guerilla actions in Van, Gever, Adıyaman, Osmaniye and Mardin, and stated that at least 9 soldiers and one village guard were killed.

TURKISH SOLDIERS LAY AMBUSHES IN VAN

HPG stated that 200-250 Turkish soldiers have been laying ambushes in the villages of Paçanê, Bozka and Karahisar in Başkale’s Xoşab region since August 17.

Turkish soldiers also launched an operation in the villages of Aşkita and Karaxpula in Başkale on the morning of August 19, and withdred without yielding any results on the same day around 17:00.

8 SOLDIERS KILLED IN ÖZALP

The Media Center stated that as part of the ‘Martyr Xebat Aktepe Revolutionary Initiative,’ HPG guerillas carried out a sabotage action against the soldiers at a Kobra-type armored vehicle on the Van-Qelqeli (Özalp) road at 15:30 on August 19. HPG noted that 8 soldiers were killed and the vehicle was destroyed, and refuted the reports of the Turkish media suggesting that soldiers were only injured during the action.

YJA STAR ACTION IN BAŞKALE

HPG Media Center stated that YJA Star guerillas carried out an assassination action against the soldiers at Bableşin outpost in Van’s Başkale district at 19:00 on August 20, and 1 soldier was killed during the action that was carried out to commemorate Baz and Bahoz comrades that had fallen as martyrs in Qelqeli in 2015.

ASSASSINATION ACTION IN HAKKARİ

HPG said that guerillas carried out an assassination action against the soldiers positioned near Martyr Hozan hill of Hakkari’s Yüksekova district at 16:30 on August 20, and 1 soldier was killed during the action.

ACTION IN ADIYAMAN

The Media Center stated that a guerilla unit ran into soldiers in the Kömür region of Adıyaman and clashes broke out on August 17. The numbers of dead and injured soldiers have not yet been clarified.

HPG said that Turkish soldiers have launched an operation and laid ambushes near the villages of Ozıka, Dılkiya, Akçalı, Kotır, Şexler, Kistan, Koçali and Gomika in Adıyaman’s Xıdsor region on August 17, 18 and 19. The operation ended on August 19, and the soldiers continue to lay ambushes and pressure the residents of Alevi villages in the region.

OPERATION IN DİGOR, KARS

HPG noted that Turkish soldiers launched an operation in the area between Kars’ Digor district and the region of Pasitli on August 14, and withdrew without yielding any results on the same day.

ACTION IN OSMANİYE

The Media Center stated that HPG guerillas carried out an infiltration action against the soldiers at the Kalecik outpost in Osmaniye’s Hasanbeyli district at 04:30 on August 20, and the numbers of dead and injured soldiers have not yet been clarified.

ONE VILLAGE GUARD KILLED IN MARDİN

Lastly, HPG Media Center recalled that Medeni Konak, a village guard that has insisted on carrying out pro-state activities in Mardin’s Omerya region, had been punished in October 2015. HPG stated that Medeni’s brother Ekrem Konak continues the activities of his brother, and warned Kurdish people to be sensitive towards the dirty activities of Ekrem Konak.
