Families of basement victims still prevented from entering Cizre

Families of wounded people trapped in the basements of savagery in Cizre were prevented from entering the town once again.

Families of wounded people trapped in the basements of savagery in Cizre were prevented from entering the town once again. Father of Derya Koç, who has been trapped in the 3rd basement of savagery in Cizre, described Interior Ministor Efkan Ala’s announcement of the end of the operations as ‘an attempt to buy time as state forces continue their massacres.’

HDP parliamentarians and the families of civilians wounded during the massacres in Cizre were stopped in front of Yalıntepe Kurumcu Karakolu on their way to the Cizre. After the ID control here, the crowd reached the entrance of Cizre but was stopped once again by state forces in armored vehicles. Here, special operations police forces took down the information of families with the promise that they would be informed about the condition of their children. However, the crowd was prohibited from entering the town soon afterwards and the police claimed that there was no information on the condition and presence of the wounded civilians.

Kemal Koç, father of Derya Koç, former co-chair of HDP Milas district branch, objected to state forces’ arbitrary prevention and said that the families had been waiting to hear from their wounded children for days now. Koç noted that the Interior Minister Efkan Ala announced the end of the operations but state forces continue to prevent families from evacuating their children. Koç described the Interior Minister’s announcement as ‘an attempt to buy time as state forces continue their massacres,’ and the families were forced to return to Nusaybin.
