One more wounded civilian, who was trapped in a basement in Sur neighborhood where 21 wounded people had been killed yesterday, died today. The death toll increased to 22, and 23 wounded people still wait for ambulances in the basement.
HDP Şırnak parliamentarian Faysal Sarıyıldız stated that he and the families of wounded people would march to the basement if ambulances were not allowed to evacuate the wounded civilians today.
After state forces attacked the 45 wounded people trapped in the basement of a building in Cizre’s Sur neighborhood and set several floors of the building on fire yesterday, 20 of the 45 wounded people died yesterday. One wounded person died last night another died this morning, bringing the total number of massacred civilians here to 22. The 23 wounded people still trapped in the basement face the risk of execution at the hands of state forces, which begin artillery fire every time medics try to reach the basement in order to evacuate the wounded civilians.
WE WILL MARCH TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD WITH THE FAMILIES
HDP Şırnak parliamentarian Faysal Sarıyıldız said that the third basement where wounded people sought refuge was very close to Nusaybin Avenue, and state forces fire artillery shots not because of armed confrontations but because they want to prevent the passage of ambulances to the neighborhood. Sarıyıldız announced that he and the families of wounded civilians would march to the basement if ambulances were not allowed to evacuate the wounded people today. Sarıyıldız noted that Amnesty International communicated with Şırnak Governorate for the evacuation of wounded people, but this attempt failed and two lieutenant commanders continue to prevent the passage of ambulances.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WOUNDED?
Sarıyıldız announced that 2 of the 27 bodies removed from the rubbles of the second basement in Cudi neighborhood actually belonged to the group of wounded people from the first basement, where 15 wounded and 9 healthy civilians had been trapped. Sarıyıldız noted that this information proves that state forces attacked all basements, and called upon the Turkish state to explain what happened to the wounded people whose fates remain unknown.
