The family of Emin Salih, who was murdered by the Turkish army, called on the Iraqi Government to stop the invasion.
Emin Salih, who lived in the Chem Mishko Refugee Camp in Zakho, was killed in an attack by the Turkish soldiers as he and his family were at their garden by the Tigris River on the first day of Eid. The 22 year old Yazidi man was buried in Shengal.
Emin Salih’s family spoke to RojNews and demanded an end to the Turkish state’s invasion attacks.
“THEY ARE KILLING OUR CHILDREN ON IRAQI SOIL”
Eliyas Salih said thousands of Yazidis have been living in camps for the last 5 years: “Our conditions at the camp are terrible. The people work in agriculture to live. The Turkish army is very close to us by the border line. Emin was targeted and killed by the Turkish army while he was working in the garden. The Turkish state disregards human rights. They don’t recognize Iraq or the Kurdistan Region. They are killing our children on Iraqi soil. We are calling on the Iraqi Government to stop these attacks, if they believe in the independence of Iraq.
“EFFORTS MUST BE IMPLEMENTED FOR THE RETURN OF YAZIDIS AT ONCE”
Eliyas Salih called on the Iraqi Government and said they should work for the Yazidis to return home: “When a state violates the sovereignty of another state, there are discussions for days and everybody says the violation is unacceptable. Why are the Turkish state’s violations being accepted? We are calling on Iraq and the Kurdistan Region to stop the invasion. There have been no efforts for the Yazidis to return home in the last 5 years. Efforts must be implemented at once for the return of Yazidis.”
“TURKEY DOESN’T RECOGNIZE THE SOVEREIGNTY OF IRAQ”
Emin Salih’s relative Xelef Qasim said: “Emin was murdered on Iraqi soil. This shows that Turkey doesn’t recognize Iraq’s sovereignty. Turkey continues to murder unsuspecting persons for no reason at all.”
