Feleknas Uca on trial for Cemil Bayık’s comments on ANF

Turkish courts create new scandals every day. This time, a comment made by KCK Executive Council Member Cemil Bayık to ANF was added to the indictment prepared for HDP MP Feleknas Uca as “terrorist propaganda”.

A lawsuit was filed against HDP Amed MP Feleknas Uca in Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No.5 with allegations of “membership to a terrorist organization” and “terrorist propaganda” because of speeches she gave in 6 events she attended in 2015 and 2016, demanding a sentence between 7.5 and 15 years. The indictment considers a speech Uca gave in a November 25 event held by KJA “terrorist propaganda”.

Another scandal surfaced about the indictment. The comments KCK Executive Council Member Cemil Bayık made to the Fırat News Agency (ANF) on December 10, 2015 were added to the indictment as allegations that Uca engaged in “terrorist propaganda”. Bayık’s comments were about the isolation imposed upon the Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan being unacceptable. Bayık had also called on Europe to support the democratic institutions of the Kurds in Turkey, to support Öcalan and show a reaction for the isolation to be lifted.

HDP Amed Branch Co-chair Ömer Önen giving information on the ongoing “curfew” in Sur to a program broadcast on Med Nuçe television on December 10, 2015 was also added to the indictment to allege that Feleknas Uca engaged in “terrorist propaganda”.
