HDP Şırnak MP Ferhat Encü sent a message to Roboskî families on the fifth anniversary of the Roboskî Massacre from Kandıra Prison he’s held in.
Encü’s message is as follows:
“My dear people, esteemed people of Roboskî and Roboskî mothers with your hearts full of woe,
I salute you with my love and respect.
Since December 28, 2011, it has been exactly five years since 34 of our brothers were murdered. The perpetrators of this deliberate and planned massacre were protected. Not one person was investigated. You sacrificed so much so the perpetrators of this massacre are punished in the dignified struggle we have waged for five years. Unfortunately, those who carried out this massacre still rule this country, so the only people punished were you and those in solidarity with you.
My dear mothers, brothers, uncles and my suffering people,
We had only two demands in our 5-year long struggle: The perpetrators be punished so new Roboskîs don’t happen, and a dignified peace be established through a democratic resolution to this issue in these lands with so many Roboskî cases. But unfortunately, the point we arrived at is death, blood, tears, looting, and a policy of total war against the Kurdish people and the oppressed.
We will continue to defend democracy, justice, living together in equality and peace, against this policy of total annihilation and denial. They may put us in prisons, they may hold the electees of this people hostage, they may disregard our people’s will. But we will not lose hope, we will resist and the dignified struggle of this people will prevail.
With this sentiment, I salute all the people we lost in these lands, and my 34 brothers, and I embrace you with all my sincerity.
May our hearts dry out if we forget the dead carried on mule back!”
