Shengal continued to burn despite efforts by the citizens and fire brigades to extinguish the fires. 

In particular the are of Tıl Saqi began burning on Wednesday afternoon, destroyng cereals crops. The fire spread because of the wind and efforts to extinguish it were in vain.

Celal Xelo, one of the governors of Til Izêr told Rojnews: "We asked for help from Shengal District Governorate, Shengal Police Administration and Shengal Democratic Autonomy Assembly. Despite all the interventions, the fire could not be extinguished and there are a number of houses burned."

Xelo demanded to the Iraqi government to reimburse the farmers.
