Five detained in Siirt

Raids have taken place in the province of Siirt for alleged "propaganda for a terrorist organization." At least five people were taken into custody.

On Tuesday morning, a series of raids took place in the province of Siirt. Police surrounded entire neighborhoods and entered several apartments. Representatives of the HDP and of the Association for the Assistance of Families of Prisoners (TUAY-DER) were taken into custody in the operation; TUAY-DER co-chair Haydar Çağlı, Siirt City Council member Musa Kurhan, former HDP provincial board members Zeki Çalapkolu and Halil Akın, and another person whose name has not yet been released. They are accused of "spreading propaganda for a terrorist organization." The detainees were taken to Siirt police headquarters.

Only on Monday, 19 representatives of Kurdish parties, trade unions and TUAY-DER, among others, were taken into custody in Amed (tr. Diyarbakır) in similar raids.
