Former Co-mayor of Viranşehir jailed after 27 days of custody

Former Co-mayor of Urfa's Viranşehir district and 4 other people have been jailed after 27 days of custody.

10 people including former Co-mayor of Urfa's Viranşehir district, Mehmet Burun, who had been detained on October 5, have been referred to Courthouse today.

The prosecutor referred the 10 detainees to court with a demand for their arrest for alleged links with the HPG action that targeted the Karakuzu Gendarmerie Command on October 4.

While 5 of the detainees have been released, former Co-mayor of Viranşehir, Mehmet Burun, Municipal Council Member Ahmet Beyazkaya, Haşim Türkoğlu, Mehmet Gökten and Hamza Türkoğlu were remanded in custody for alleged “membership to an armed organisation”.

The 5 people have been sent to Urfa T Type Prison.
