German Consulate in Hewlêr says it closely follows Behdinan prisoners' case

The German Consulate in Hewlêr said that it closely follows the Behdinan prisoners' case, together with the UN and EU observers.

Nearly 100 Behdinan prisoners, including journalists, intellectuals, writers and teachers, who were arrested by the KDP, have been held in prison for more than a year without any justification.

The German Consulate in Hewlêr issued a statement on its Twitter account regarding the Behdinan prisoners case.

The statement said: “Together with the United Nations and the European Union, we are closely monitoring the Behdinan prisoners' case. Concerns about the rule of law, particularly pre-trial detention, access to lawyers and denied family visits, remain.”
