The Turkish state is looking to legitimize their invasion, looting and massacre attempts in Afrin, pave the way for the invasion of Southern Kurdistan and with Southern parties to tear Sulaymaniyah and Hewler apart. For that, they recently met with political parties in Sulaymaniyah.
Turkey’s Hewler Consul General Hakan Karaçay met with the PUK, Yekgurtu, Komala Islami and other parties and requested a meeting from the Goran Movement Chair Ömer Seyid Ali. Seyid Ali responded to the request: “Your massacre, invasion and looting in Afrin was not an act against the PYD or the PKK. This was an invasion operation implemented against all Kurds. Right after Afrin, now you start to expand your invasion in Southern Kurdistan. You started bombing the villagers in air strikes and massacring civilians. For these and your fracturing and conflicting policies that feed internal conflict of opening the Hewler air space and not opening the Suleymaniye Airport, I have nothing to discuss with you.”
Reports say Karaçay left the Gorran Movement headquarters without holding any meetings.
“WE SHOWED THAT WE DON’T APPROVE OF THE INVASION”
An official from the Gorran Movement said the following on Turkey’s Consul General to Hewler Hakan Karaçay being refused audience with chairperson Ömer Seyid Ali: “They launched a great massacre, invasion and genocide in Afrin. They took action against Kurdish gains in Rojava, Bakur, Başur and everywhere else. They are trying to do the same in the South through some locals with their divisive policies. Agreeing to a meeting would mean we approve of these policies. By refusing, we wanted to state that we do not approve of the invasion policies, the massacres, genocide, and the animosity against Kurdish gains. And we gave a message that we do have a stance against their policies.”
