Guerrilla actions in Hakkari, Şırnak, Amed and Muş

HPG Media Center announced ongoing actions by guerrillas and operation by the Turkish army forces in North Kurdistan territory.

HPG Media Center announced that guerillas carried out an action against Turkish soldiers moving from Bêzelê outpost to Bêdewê base in Şemdinli on May 18. At least 5 soldiers died and another 8 got injured during the action.

In its statement, HPG also reported that guerillas carried out an assassination action against the soldiers positioned in Hakkari’s Derava Orê region at 10:30 on May 18, and 1 soldier died during this action.

‘ACTION IN MEMORY OF GEVER MARTYRS’

HPG stated that guerilla forces carried out an action against Turkish soldiers moving from Bêzelê outpost to Bêdewê base in Şemdinli at 13:30 on May 18. The media center noted that 13 soldiers were being transported in a Kirpi-type vehicle, and at least 5 soldiers died and another 8 got injured during the action.

HPG said that the action was carried out in memory of Gever martyrs, and the Turkish drones carried out reconnaissance flights over the site of the action between 17:00 on May 18 and 05:00 on May 19. HPG added that Turkish warplanes fly over the area and the Turkish army’s operation in the region continues.

HPG announced that its forces carried out a sabotage action against a Cobra-type armored vehicle on the road between Mardin and its Mahsertê (Ömerli) district at 16:30 on May 17, and 6 soldiers got injured during this event.

TURKISH ARMY OPERATION IN MUŞ

HPG stated that the Turkish army launched an operation near the Ari, Neynik and Alages villages of Muş on May 15, and withdrew without yielding any results at 10:00 on May 17.

HPG said that the Turkish army’s Cobra-type helicopters hit the area near the Qelencik, Qeremeşe, Hebiba and Geliyê villages of Muş’s Varto district on May 18, and Sikorsky-type helicopters deployed soldiers in the area. Secret army units also carried out ambushes in this region, but state forces withdrew on the night of the same day without yielding any results.

HPG announced that guerillas carried out an infiltration action against Turkish soldiers secretly stationing near the Martyr Bawer Hill between the Kurtıka and Serxak villages of Bitlis’ Tatvan district on the evening of May 18. 4 soldiers were killed during the action, and Cobra-type helicopters bombarded the region for 2 hours. The Turkish army launched an operation in the area on the morning of May 19, which still continues. The media center said that the action was carried out in memory of the guerillas that have recently fallen as martyrs.

ACTION AGAINST VEHICLES CONSTRUCTING A ROAD IN ŞIRNAK

HPG Media Center stated that guerilla forces carried out an action against the vehicles that were constructing a road near the Martyr Kendal Hill of Şırnak’s Uludere district with light and heavy weaponry. The construction was halted and the Turkish army shelled the areas of Deriyê Dawetiya and Gıre Nêriya after the action.

HPG said that guerillas ran into Turkish soldiers in between the regions of Sarıkamış and Karakurt in Kars at 19:30 on May 14. HPG announced that 2 guerillas fought heroically until their last bullets and fell as martyrs during the clashes here.

Guerillas carried out one other action against the Hegasor outpost in Amed’s Hani district at 16:20 on May 17, and 2 soldiers died during this action.

In another action, guerillas burnt 7 construction vehicles belonging to a firm that carries out the construction of the railway near Muş’ Kurdish Square region on May 18, for the company’s collaboration with the Turkish state despite the several warnings issued recently.
