The People’s Defence Forces (HPG) Press Centre released the following details in a written statement about the actions by guerrillas and invasion attacks by the Turkish army in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).
The statement published on Tuesday includes the following:
“As part of the Cenga Xabur Revolutionary Campaign in the Heftanîn region:
At 06:15 and 08:30 on August 7, the Turkish troops in Girê Dûpişk in the Minînê area were hit twice with heavy weapons.
The invading Turkish state is staggering under the successful resistance of our forces in the Avaşîn area. The invading Turkish state attacks the battle tunnels with dirty war methods and continues to commit war crimes by using chemical weapons. On August 9, between 07:00 and 19:00 the invading Turkish army used chemical weapons five times against the battle tunnels in the Werxelê area of the Avaşîn region. On the same day, between 11:30 and 22:40, the battle tunnels in Girê Sor and Werxêlê were bombed.
Turkish drone activity in the area is continuing.
On August 9, between 12:00 and 18:00, the Kafya area in the Garê region was bombed twice by fighter jets.
On August 9, between 21:10 and 01:30, Turkish helicopter activity was observed in the areas of Banista, Tabûra Ereba, Girê Silêman and Girê Spi in Avaşîn regions.
We did not suffer any casualties during these attacks.
