Guerrillas hit soldiers in Hakkari as airstrikes on guerrilla zones continue

HPG/YJA-Star guerrillas carried out actions against Turkish soldiers in Şemzinan (Şemdinli) and Çelê (Çukurca) districts of Hakkari, while Turkish warplanes continued to shell guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in South Kurdistan territory.

HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Centre released a statement providing information about the recent actions by guerrillas and the ongoing attacks of the Turkish army against Medya Defense Zones in South Kurdistan territory.

Accordingly, guerrillas with heavy weapons hit a Turkish unmanned aerial vehicle moving from the Zap region of Medya Defense Zones at 08.30 on March 8. As a result of the action, the unmanned aerial vehicle was struck and withdrawn from the field.

On March 7, at 15.15, guerrillas carried out another action with heavy weapons against a group of Turkish army soldiers moving to Leylek Hill from the Sivri hill in Hakkari's Şemzinan district. In this action, the number of dead and wounded soldiers could not be clarified.

At 8 pm on March 8th, HPG forces carried out actions with heavy weapons against the positions of Turkish soldiers stationed in the village of Petrot in Hakkari's Çukurca district. The number of dead and wounded soldiers in the action could not be clarified.

On the other hand, HPG reported that warplanes belonging to the Turkish army bombed the following areas in guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones;

- Cehennem hill in Avashin area between 10:00 and 11.00 am on March 8th,

- The areas of Dola Kınyanış, Dola Şehid Özgür, Govendê, Geliyê Avashin and Mervanos from 17.00 – 20.00,

- The area of Tabura Ereban between 00:00 and 02.30 on March 8th,

- The Karê village of Zap region and the surroundings of the Zap water between 00:00 and 00:30 the same night.
