The Turkish state's invasion attacks against Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) are continuing.

Speaking to ANF about the latest situation on the ground, guerrillas of the People’s Defense Forces (HPG) and the Free Women’s Troops (YJA-Star), who have repulsed the intense attacks and dealt heavy blows to the Turkish army, called on the Kurdish people to "rise up".

'A GREAT RESISTANCE'

YJA-Star guerrilla Ekin Tolhildan, who is fighting the occupation, said that "The purpose of this operation is to interrupt the relationship between our friends in this strategic region. This is why they attach great importance to the Avashin area. In the Zagros region, the Turkish forces received heavy blows especially in the Avashin area. This is why the enemy is preparing itself differently against Avashin. The enemy launched an offensive in the areas of Martyr Serdar and Mamresho on April 23. Despite the technical superiority of the enemy, the guerrillas deal heavy blows to them in every area. There is a great resistance with new approaches, methods and war tunnels. The enemy did not anticipate that they would face such a strong will. In the beginning, the enemy was very confident in its technical superiority, so it did not believe that its offensive would be defeated with great will. Our comrades have repulsed these attacks of the enemy in the areas of Martyr Munzur and Martyr Serdar. The enemy forces, who have no ideology, do not know what they are fighting for and cannot enter the war tunnels by means of their technological equipment. In contrast, our comrades infiltrate their positions and hit them.”

Noting that there has been a great resistance against the Turkish operation in the Martyr Serdar area, Tolhildan continued as follows:

"Our comrades are hitting the enemy. They keep resisting through sabotage, infiltration, assassination and special weapons. The enemy cannot stand against our will. Whatever the enemy does, we will not let them settle here. One can see this in the resistance in the area of ​​Martyr Munzur. Despite the use of poisonous and chemical gas, our comrades managed to resist. There has been no similar example in the history. Despite its technologically advanced weapons, the enemy cannot enter our positions protected by a small guerrilla squad. The resistance and war continue. The guerrillas are resisting. We must be proud of them.”

YJA-Star guerrilla Ekin Tolhildan addressed the public as follows:

"The people should also determine their attitude. In all parts of Kurdistan, the people should rise up against the occupation of the Turkish state especially in North and South Kurdistan. Young people should take to the streets in a self-sacrificing manner. We are greeting all our comrades who are resisting in Avashin and other areas. We will keep resisting.”

 

'THEY ARE LOSING DESPITE USING CHEMICAL WEAPONS'

HPG guerrilla Hêjar Başkale said, "The enemy launched an operation against the Medya Defense Zones on April 23. The purpose of the operation is to invade South Kurdistan."

"At the moment, the enemy is carrying out an operation from two wings in the area of ​​Avashin: the area of ​​Mervanos and Martyr Serdar and on the Mamresho line. As far as it can be observed, the village guards and counter forces are joining the operation, which aims at separating the Zap, Avashin and Metina areas from each other,” said the HPG guerrilla and continued as follows;

“The enemy could not achieve any result. The comrades who encircled the enemy forces located on the two hills in the region are dealing major blows to the enemy. The comrades have also seized many weapons and military equipment belonging to the enemy forces.

Especially those comrades fighting in war tunnels and positions are resisting heroically. The NATO’s second largest army is attacking our comrades in positions with their technologically advanced weapons. Moreover, the comrades in the positions and tunnels consist of small units. However, despite the attacks carried out with advanced and chemical weapons, the enemy has failed against our comrades who are resisting with great will. Fighter jets, attack helicopters and reconnaissance planes are now used for fighting our comrades, rather than soldiers of the Turkish army. When the Turkish troops encounter our comrades, they leave their positions and flee. The Turkish army has no spirit of war, it lacks the spirit of resistance.  

The enemy may have been positioned on some hills, but that doesn't mean they have managed to settle down in our areas. Our comrades are hitting the enemy from all sides. The enemy forces will try to settle down in some areas, but the price will be heavy for them.”

'WE WILL MAKE THESE POSITIONS GRAVES FOR THEM!'

Another HPG guerrilla Serhad Agiri remarked the following:

"The enemy airdropped troops on Mamresho and Martyr Serdar areas on April 23 by Sikorsky helicopters with the support of attack helicopters. Since April 23, the enemy has been trying to enter our war positions with advanced technical support in the areas of Mamresho and Martyr Serdar. However, they cannot move forward because of the HPG and YJA Star forces. The enemy forces are trying to enter the tunnels and positions by using all kinds of weapons, including chemicals and various explosives, in defiance of laws of war. Although the Turkish army airdrops 150 soldiers on a daily basis and uses all kinds of weapons and techniques, it is being heavily hit by the guerrilla in the positions. Our forces outside the positions are also dealing major blows to the barbarian enemy with faith and confidence. The enemy forces who cannot enter the positions are sending dogs with cameras to the tunnels, but the forces are fighting against the barbarian enemy with great resistance. A historic resistance is being mounted indeed.

The Avashin and Zagros lines have a special meaning. The PKK has been fighting in these liberated areas for 40 years. Martyr Reşit Serdar, Martyr Rojin Gewda and many heroic commanders sacrificed their lives to defend these areas. We, as their students, will defend our land to the end, fight against the invading Turkish army and crush them here. We will also make these positions graves for them because our friends have fought for years to protect this land and fell as martyrs. We will crush the invading Turkish army here."
