Turkish Interior Minister Efkan Ala's statement “Operations in Cizre have ended”, and the ongoing failure of access to the building where 22 slain and 23 wounded people are trapped, strengthen doubts over a massacre like what happened in the other two basements in which state forces killed dozens in mass.
HDP Şırnak deputy Faysal Sarıyıldız who is also in the Kurdish town of Cizre said the followings regarding the latest situation; “At around 9 this morning, we heard sound of a huge blast from the Sur neighborhood where that building is located. State forces later called two municipal ambulances to that neighborhood. It is understood that the people awaiting evacuation there have suffered a mass killing.”
Sarıyıldız pointed out that Turkish police and soldiers in Cizre made a "celebration" by opening fire into the air short before the Minister Ala announced ending of the operations. HDP MP told the followings; "Death squads across the town shook the city with sounds of gunshots half an hour before the Minister's statement. We later understood that they were making a celebration over bloodshed. A massacre and crime against humanity has been committed in Cizre today, too. We are facing a contemptible system and a despicable government that collects stories of bravery from the devastated town of Cizre. We think the people in that basement have been killed. There is no other explanation for this statement of "accomplished operation" while there is no information available suggesting they are in good condition."
