Police officers stopped the vehicles of Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Batman parliamentarian Mehmet Ali Aslan and detained Aslan yesterday evening. The reason for Aslan's detention was the claim that he participated in a protest in Batman against appointed trustees. Batman 5th Criminal Court of First Instance had issued an arrest warren for Aslan for not appearing in court for the two separate court cases putting him on trial.

During his detention, Aslan told prosecutors that he wanted to defend himself in his mother tongue Arabic, but was soon released at Midyat Court House.
