Turkish police forces staged a crackdown on deputies of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) who were leading marches from 15 cities to Amed in solidarity with DTK Co-chair and HDP MP Leyla Guven who is on the 100th day of her indefinite hunger strike against the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan. The marches from Hakkari, Van, Kars, Iğdır, Bitlis, Ağrı, Muş, Şırnak, Mardin, Siirt, Batman, Dersim, Bingöl, Antep and Urfa were launched from 7 directions with the motto “On Day 100 To Leyla, To Break the Isolation”.
HDP MP for Amed, Saliha Aydeniz, who was battered by the police during a demonstration in Van city, was subject to another aggression in Amed. The HDP deputy was tripped up by the police as she was walking with other deputies. Aydeniz’s head hit the ground and she was taken to hospital where she was placed in the ICU after complaints of dizziness and nausea.
