Heavy clashes in the wake of ISIS aggression on Girê Spî from two sides

YPG Press Office reported that ISIS gangs carried out attacks aimed at the southern and eastern parts of Girê Spî from the directions of Turkey and Raqqa at around 23:00 last night.

The Press Office of People's Defense Units (YPG) has released a statement regarding the expansive aggression conducted by ISIS gangs last night in the wake of the accomplished operation of YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Shaddadi area where jihadist groups were inflicted severe blows.

The statement said ISIS gangs carried out attacks aimed at the southern and eastern parts of Girê Spî from the directions of Turkey and Raqqa at around 23:00 last night.

The gangs attacking from Turkey side targeted the Girê Spî (Til Ebyad) town centre, and the villages of Nestel, Xwêra and Qenetra. Those attacking from the southern Raqqa side, on the other hand, hit the villages of Genterî and Şergirat to the east of Ayn îsa and south of Silûk town.

The immediate response by YPG forces resulted in heavy clashes in more than 15 locations, which are still going on.

YPG said details of the confrontation will be made public later on, vowing that the attacks will be repelled and gangs will be frustrated.
