The Press Office of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) released a statement providing information on the latest guerrilla actions and Turkish attacks in Kurdistan territory.
SİİRT
According to the statement, HPG and YJA STAR (Free Women’s Troops) struck Turkish special operations teams who have been laying ambushes in the area of Kato Heşet in Pervari district of Siirt province. After a brief observation, guerrillas carried out a sabotage action against the vehicle of the Turkish unit at 22:00 on 12 August. While the vehicle was destroyed, 10 members of the special operations teams were killed. The action was dedicated to the anniversary of the start of the Kurdish armed struggle on August 15, 1984.
VAN
HPG also reported that Turkish army launched an operation in the countryside of Van’s Gürpınar district on 7 August, saying; "The unsuccessful operation, which was also supported by counter-guerrilla forces, was concentrated in the Körük and Axula areas and was withdrawn on August 13. However, ambushes are still set up in the region by the Turkish occupying army."
ŞIRNAK
The statement said that two guerrilla fighters fell as martyrs during an air raid carried out by the Turkish army in the Çirav area, near Mount Gabar in Şırnak province. The identities of the two guerrillas, who fell on 1 August, will be made public at a later date, it added.
MEDYA DEFENSE ZONES
According to the HPG, the Turkish army continues its air raids in Southern Kurdistan, Northern Iraq.
HPG said that Turkish jets struck a car in the village of Reshanke in Zawita town of Duhok province at 22:00 on 13 August. Three militias of the Kurdish movement were martyred in the attack.
Another air strike by the Turkish army targeted the area of Aris-Faris in Avashin region of Medya Defense Zones at 15:00 on 15 August. The bombardment did not result in casualties in guerrilla ranks, the HPG statement added.
