HPG/YJA Star guerrillas targeted Turkish troops in various locations in Kurdistan. 12 soldiers including a lieutenant were killed while one vehicle and one position were destroyed.
The Press Office of People’s Defense Forces (HPG) released a statement detailing the latest actions carried out by guerrillas against Turkish troops and the attacks conducted by the Turkish military.
According to the statement, guerrillas carried out actions as part of the ‘Martyr Bager and Martyr Ronya Revolutionary Initiative’ to salute the ‘Battle of Heftanin’ campaign.
At 08:40 on July 18, guerrillas targeted a Turkish military vehicle on move in the area of Çarçella in the countryside of Hakkari’s Şemdinli district. The sabotage left the vehicle destroyed and 7 soldiers dead, including a lieutenant and a member of counter-guerrilla forces. The Turkish army then launched an operation in the area and removed the casualties from the scene.
At 17:30 on July 19, guerrillas hit the Turkish troops stationed on hill Şehid Reber in Hakkari’s Çukurca district. Two soldiers were killed and two others wounded here, while a position of the Turkish forces on the hill was destroyed.
As part of the ‘Martyr Medya and Martyr Rizgar Gever Revenge Campaign’ guerrillas targeted the Turkish soldiers stationed in the area of Shehriban in Besta region of Şırnak. The action was carried out to salute the ‘Battle of Heftanin’ campaign ongoing in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) where the Turkish army has been conducting an occupation operation since June.
On the other hand, HPG reported continued air raids by the Turkish army against guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan.
Accordingly, Turkish jets shelled the following areas:
Vicinity of the Gire village in Gare region at 22:50 on July 18,
The area of Mervanıs in Avashin region at 00:15 on July 19,
The area of Kunişka in Zap region at 01:30 on July 19,
The area of Geliyê Basya in Avashin region at 00:30 on July 20,
The area of Kurojaro in Zap region at 18:00.
