Heftanin
In the Heftanin region in Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq), guerrillas have been resisting the Turkish invasion with their "Revolutionary Offensive Cenga Heftanin" since mid-June. Within this framework, several actions were carried out on 24 July.
At 9.45 am, guerrillas targeted a military camp in the area of Şehîd Şîlan on Hill Kartal from three sides. Eleven soldiers were killed, two tents and a surveillance camera were destroyed as a result.
At 4.30 pm, a soldier on Hill Şehîd Berxwedan in the Xantûr area was shot by a sniper of the women’s guerrilla troop YJA-Star.
At 8.30 pm, guerrillas hit a Turkish military unit stationed on Hill Dupişk. One soldier was killed and two others were injured here.
HPG said that the actions were carried out in memory of the fallen guerrilla fighters Zelal, Reşat, Argeş and Zinar.
Çukurca
In Çukurca district of Hakkari province, guerrillas hit soldiers who were cutting down trees and building positions in the Şifreza area. The military unit was observed for a while before it was struck by guerrillas at 11 am on 24 July. While one soldier was killed and another injured here, the Turkish army launched an operation, which was stopped on the same day without results.
Van
Furthermore, the HPG Press Office informs that the Turkish army launched a comprehensive operation in the area of Aşkita in Başkale district of Van province on 12 July. The operational units were withdrawn from the area on July 20 without any results. However, ambushes are still being carried out in the areas of Axula, Gozeldere, Aşkita, Sulavê and Paçan.
