HPG: 14 soldiers killed, two helicopters hit

The guerrillas continue their resistance against the Turkish invasion of Southern Kurdistan unabated. According to HPG information, another 14 soldiers of the Turkish army have died in the latest guerrilla actions.

Despite permanent bombardment of their areas and massive chemical weapons deployments by the Turkish army, the guerrilla forces HPG (People's Defence Forces) and YJA Star (Free Women's Troops) continue to resist the invasion of southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq). According to an overview of the war in the region released by the HPG press office on Monday, at least 14 Turkish soldiers were killed between 21 and 23 October. In addition, two transport helicopters came under fire.

Probably the most spectacular action of the past few days took place on Friday evening in the region of Zap. Mobile guerrilla teams infiltrated a military camp in the outskirts of the battle positions in the Sîda area and fired on the occupants from close range. Rifles and hand grenades were used in the raid, and the deaths of eight soldiers were confirmed.

In the nearby Çemço area, a military position was targeted and heavily hit on Saturday. On Sunday, the guerrillas there responded with heavy weapons fire to three attempts by Turkish forces to penetrate the tunnel facility in the massif. In total, six soldiers were shot dead and a seventh was injured. In Saca, HPG and YJA Star units prevented occupation troops from carrying out two air landings by helicopter. Both Sikorsky aircraft were hit by guerrilla artillery and had to turn around.

ATTACKS BY THE TURKISH ARMY

Meanwhile, the air and ground attacks of the Turkish army on Southern Kurdish territory continue virtually without interruption. According to the HPG, the areas of Girê Cûdî, Çemço and Sîda were attacked with chemical weapons seven times within 24 hours on Sunday. In the same period, four drone attacks, in which flamethrowers were used, targeted the "Şehîd Botan" defence positions. In addition, dozens of air attacks were carried out by attack helicopters. The HPG recorded 86 such attacks, which were directed against the areas of Kurojahro, Şehîd Fedakar, Saca, Girê Hekarî, Girê Cûdî and Girê Amêdî. In parallel, ground attacks were carried out from the Turkish border. In Karker, attempts by Turkish occupation forces to penetrate guerrilla positions with construction machinery continue.
