HPG Media Center issued a written statement on the Turkish army’s operation in Besta region. In its statement, HPG said that Turkish soldiers from Navyana Şexa, Çelê Nımeja, Gundıkê Melê, Sêgırkê, Guzakurkê and Tabura Bestê outposts the launched an operation in Şırnak’s Besta region on November 3 and positioned themselves in Şehriban, Çemaloka, Bıluzer, Besta Hıncê, Çiyayê fıla, Tepê Fırınê, Tepe Mewışkê, Çala, Çemkeê Telo and Piro regions. Soldiers from Siirt also positioned themselves in the Osyan, Omyanıs, Tepê Tenurê, Gırê Gêsıl, Gırê Sor, Akir, Xınzur, Zorava Çexçeko, Mêrgumarê, Serê Orman, Kani Cınetê and Herekol regions, and guerillas led by Amed Şaho launched a resistance with the motto "we will not allow occupiers to enter Besta, they can only enter here after killing us." HPG guerillas set up Çemakola and Gırê Xanê areas as the bases of this resistance, and launched several actions against a group of soldiers at 12:30 on November 3. 2 soldiers were killed during these actions.
HPG stated that 6 more soldiers were killed during guerilla actions near Gırê Xanê, and the Turkish army was forced to retreat from here. Guerillas carried out another action here on November 4, and 1 specialist sergeant was killed and 1 counter-guerilla was wounded during this action.
Intense clashes broke out when HPG guerillas carried out an action against soldiers in Mêrgumarê region on November 5, and Turkish army’s Kobra helicopters bombarded the area after the guerilla action. 1 soldier was killed during the guerillas’ assassination action on Fırınê hill and another soldier was killed during the clashes near the Martyr Şoreş hill on the same day.
HPG guerillas carried out an assassination action also against the soldiers positioned at Tenurê hill on November 6, and 2 soldiers died and 4 other were wounded during the action. Guerillas carried out an action from two directions against the soldiers positioned on the slopes of Fırınê hill on November 7, and 3 soldiers were killed and 1 counter-guerilla was arrested during the action. Soldiers fled Fırınê hill as a result of this action.
HPG reported that 1 soldier was killed during a guerilla action in the Xırbıkê Bestê region on November 8, another soldier was killed during the guerilla action in Gırê Sor around 17:20 on November 9, and 2 soldiers were killed during a guerilla action at 09:05 on November 10.
HPG Media Center stated that the resistance of guerillas prevented the thousands of soldiers participating in the operation from yielding any results, and in turn the Turkish army bombarded and burned the houses of civilians in the villages of Xırbıkê Bestê, Tuşimiya ve Nevalâ Goxa. Villagers’ 3 motorcycles, 1 tractor and 1 Rendrover were destroyed and 20 horses were killed. Soldiers also killed civilians’ livestock in the villages of Piro, Martyr Rodi and Besta Hıncê.
HPG stated that in total, 18 soldiers were killed and 7 guerillas fell as martyrs during the clashes in Şırnak’s Besta region.
HAKKARİ-DERSİM-AMED
HPG stated that guerillas carried out an assassination action against the soldiers at Gırê outpost in Hakkari’s Çukurca district at 11:30 on November 12, and 1 soldier was killed during the action.
HPG noted that the Turkish state declared curfews in the villages of Pırêjman, Eledağ, Tünegrat and Arsek in Amed’s Dicle district on November 12, and secret army units entered the Haftanin region around 08:00 on the same day. Guerillas encircled these soldiers around 10:30, and 3 soldiers were killed during the action. Turkish soldiers withdrew from the area after the guerilla action, which was dedicated to İsa Madur (İsa Aras) and other guerillas that have recently fallen as martyrs.
HPG said that Turkish warplanes bombarded Dersim’s Avgasor region at 16:30 on November 7, and the army deployed 30,000 soldiers at the Tülük, Şakir, Rengül, Kinzir, Ortadağ, Ballımezra, Anabar, Seyit Rıza castle and Güvenlik regions around 21:00 on the same day. Clashes broke out between guerillas and soldiers on November 8, and soldiers withdrew from the area around 21:00 on November 9. Many soldiers were reportedly killed and 14 guerillas fell as martyrs during the clashes.
