HPG Media Center issued a written statement on recent guerilla actions that have continued without a pause.
HAKKARİ
Guerillas carried out a sabotage action against the soldiers at Güvenlik Hill in Hakkari’s Çukurca district at 06:00 on October 4, and 12 soldiers were killed and 3 army positions were destroyed during the action. Guerillas also carried out an action with heavy weaponry against a tank on Bilican hill on the same day, and the tank was destroyed and the 4 soldiers inside the tank were killed during the action. Guerillas also carried out an action against the soldiers at Martyr Cahit Hill on the same day, and the numbers of dead and injured soldiers have not yet been clarified.
Guerillas carried out an action with heavy weaponry against the soldiers at Êriş outpost in Hakkari’s Çukurca district at 07:30 on October 4, and the numbers of dead and injured soldiers have not yet been clarified.
Clashes broke out between soldiers and guerillas near the Martyr Çolemerg and Çeko hills of Hakkari’s Çukurca district on October 5, and have continued until now.
ŞIRNAK
HPG Media Center stated that a group of counter-guerillas, who go by the name “head hunters,” had been laying ambushes near the Elemun village of Şırnak’s Uludere district recently. Guerillas encircled the counter-guerillas and carried out an action from 2 directions at 10:30 on October 3. The first guerilla unit targeted a position and 3 counter guerillas were killed, and the second guerilla unit targeted another position and 3 counter guerillas were killed and 4 others were injured. Soon after, 3 of the counter guerillas that were attempting to flee the region were also killed, and the Turkish army retrieved the bodies of 9 dead and 4 injured counter guerillas with armored vehicles. The action was dedicated to the guerillas that had fallen as martyrs during the recent Xabur action.
HPG recalled that the Turkish army had launched an operation in the Faraşin area of Şırnak’s Beytüşşebap district on September 27. More than 7000 soldiers from Şırnak, Hakkari and Van are reported to have joined the operation with 30 armored vehicles and heavy weaponry. During the 7 daylong operation, warplanes bombarded and soldiers shelled Faraşin area. The soldiers from Hakkari placed heavy weaponry in the Kela Cengê area, Ahmed pass and Çiyareşkê region, the soldiers from Van were positioned at the Çiyayêreşkê, Komando Hill, Çarçel, Tırşinê and Çalyan regions, and the soldiers from Şırnak placed heavy weaponry at Kunavê, Melixan, Şeletunê and Karçıtê areas. Many villages were raided and villagers were tortured during the operation in Faraşin.
2 GUERILLAS, NOT 11, FELL AS MARTYRS
HPG stated that clashes broke out between guerillas and soldiers near the areas of Şeletune and Karçıte on October 2, and refuted the Turkish mainstream media’s claims that 11 guerillas were killed here. HPG noted that 2 guerillas named Hasan and Hozan fell as martyrs during these clashes, and the ID information of these guerillas would be shared with the public soon.
The Turkish army bombarded civilian vehicles and Faraşin Cemetary after these clashes, and soldiers withdrew from the area at 13:30 on October 4 without yielding any results.
Guerillas carried out a sabotage action against the soldiers at a moving Kirpi armored vehicle between Van’s Başkale district and Güzeldere region at 13:30 on October 4, and the numbers of dead and injured soldiers have not yet been clarified. The action was carried out in retaliation to the soldiers’ Faraşin operation.
AMED
As part of the Martyr Çekdar Mahir Serbest Revolutionary Initiative, guerillas carried out an action against the soldiers at a hill in between the Markê and Korxê villages of Amed’s Lice district at 17:55 on October 4. 6 of the 8 Turkish army positions were destroyed, 16 soldiers were killed, and 12 soldiers were injured during the action. The guerillas seized 10 guns and ammunition during the action that was carried out to commemorate Martyrs Xelil and Şehi Armanç.
AĞRI
HPG stated that guerillas ran into soldiers as they were on a mission in the Kırê Demirkapı region of Ağrı’s Doğubeyazır district, and clashes broke out at 16:00 on October 2. Kobra helicopters randomly bombarded the area after the clashes, but the guerillas safely reached bases.
DERSİM
Guerillas set up a checkpoint on the Dersim-Erzincan road between the villages of Uzuntarla and Kozmerik at 17:15 on October 4, checked IDs and informed the public about the current political process. One vehicles belonging to a private company working with the state was burned during the action, after which Kobra helicopters bombarded the area.
BİTLİS
HPG announced that a fire broke out after Turkish warplanes bombarded the Şêx Cuma region of Bitlis at 07:30 on October 4.
MUŞ
Turkish soldiers are reported to have been laying ambushes near the Kulan, Baskan and Miran villages of Muş’s Varto district.
BİNGÖL
Lastly, Turkish soldiers and village guards are reported to have been laying ambushes near the Ağlo, Karahamza and Çartak villages of Bingöl’s Karlıova district.
