HPG: 34 Turkish soldiers killed in Heftanin

Guerrillas hit operational units of the Turkish army in Heftanin almost every hour. According to HPG, 34 soldiers were killed on Sunday; two attack helicopters were hit and forced to retreat.

The People's Defense Forces (HPG) announced the latest from the Turkish army's occupation operation in the southern Kurdistan guerrilla area of Heftanin, which was expanded last week. According to the statement, 34 soldiers were killed in several resistance actions on Sunday, two Cobra helicopters were hit and forced to retreat.

As to the details, the press office said that the Xantur area was bombed by fighter jets and attack helicopters between 10 p.m. on June 20 and 2 a.m. the following day. The HPG fired on the helicopters and forced them to retreat, and a Cobra helicopter was hit. Three sabotage actions were carried out against transport helicopters that were trying to airdrop soldiers in the area. According to HPG, an unknown number of soldiers were killed.

At 9.30 a.m. a sabotage action against a Turkish military unit in Xantur took place, killing five soldiers. Another sabotage action at 11 a.m. killed three soldiers.

At 12.30 pm a Turkish unit on Hill Dûpişkê was targeted from three sides, six soldiers were killed. At 13.10 a military unit was hit, which was stationed on Hill Sîpan. There is no information available on the number of dead and injured.

At 2 pm the HPG carried out an action against an operational unit on Hill Qesrokê: "Our forces infiltrated the enemy's camp and fired on the enemy soldiers from close range. As a result of the action, six enemy soldiers were punished. During this action, our comrade Memyan fought heroically against the enemy unit to the last bullet and fell a martyr. After the action, a Cobra-type helicopter that was about to bomb the area was targeted and hit by our forces," the HPG statement said.

At 14.30 and 16.30 soldiers were hit as they moved to take position on Hill Şehîd Bêrîvan. Three soldiers were killed here.

At 15 o'clock another action took place in Xantur. HPG forces infiltrated a unit of the Turkish army and "punished" eleven soldiers. The dead and injured were transported away in military helicopters.

Guerilla actions in Besta, Xakurke and Çelê

HPG further reported actions have also taken place in other guerrilla areas. In this scope, military positions of the Turkish forces were hit at Hill Lêlikan in Xakurke in Southern Kurdistan on 21 June and three soldiers were killed.

On 17 June, guerrillas hit Turkish soldiers in the surroundings of the Osyan military post in Besta region of Şırnak. Two soldiers were killed here, one of them an officer.

In the Çukurca district of Hakkari, enemy positions on Hill Sor were targeted on 21 June at 10.40 a.m. and at 5.40 p.m. According to the HPG, the number of soldiers killed or injured here could not be determined.

Air raid on Metina

On June 21, Golka and the Hakkari hills in the Metina region were bombed by Turkish fighter jets. HPG did not suffer any losses during the air raid.
