Actions of HPG/YJA Star guerrillas against the isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan continue increasingly. 21 soldiers were killed and large amounts of guns and ammunition were seized during the guerrilla actions in Hakkari.
HPG Media Center issued a written statement on the most recent actions carried out by guerrillas against Turkish military targets in North Kurdistan.
HAKKARİ
In its statement, HPG recalled that the guerrillas had launched the Martyr Arnos Revolutionary Initiative against the Turkish soldiers that launched an operation on the Ronahi hill in Mêrgê region of Hakkari’s Yüksekova district around 23:00 on August 28. The guerrillas infiltrated into Turkish forces' area from two different directions, as a result of which 12 soldiers were killed and many others fled the hill, two of whom also died later on. Guerrillas seized large amounts of guns and ammunition during the action.
Guerrillas carried out another action targeting the soldiers at the Çemêkurkê military barracks in the Şemzinan district of Hakkari from 3 different directions at 09:30 on August 28. One lieutenant was killed and one soldier was injured during the action. Turkish soldiers in an armored vehicle arrived at the site of the clashes but their vehicle turned upside down after the intervention of the guerrillas. 2 guerrillas fell as martyr and the soldiers captured one guerrilla during the action, and more information on the martyred guerrillas will soon be shared with the public.
On the other hand, one Sikorsky-type helicopter was damaged by the guerrillas as it was airdropping soldiers on the Martyr Hozan Hill in Hakkari’s Yüksekova district at 02:00 on August 27. Soldiers bombarded the hill from Cobra-type helicopters after the guerrilla action.
Guerrillas also carried out a sabotage action against the soldiers carrying out road control activities near the village of Rezan on the road between Hakkari and Van at 12:30 on August 28, and One Cobra-type armored vehicle was destroyed, 6 soldiers were killed and 5 soldiers were injured during the action.
BİNGÖL
As part of the Martyr Çekdar Mahir Serbest Revolutionary Initiative, guerrillas carried out a series of actions against the Gendarme building, police headquarters and barracks in Bingöl’s Yayladere district at 19:00 on August 28, and these buildings were set on fire but the number of dead and injured soldiers couldn't be determined.
HPG stated that the Turkish army’s operation in the Kızılağaç region of Bingöl’s Kanireş (Karlıova) district, which had begun on August 20, ended on August 28 without yielding any results.
SİİRT
Lastly, HPG stated that guerrillas carried out a sabotage action against 10 counter-guerrillas that had been laying ambushes around Torik village in Siirt's Eru district at 06:30 on August 28. The number of dead and injured counter-guerrillas, not village guards as the Turkish media claims, couldn't be determined.
