HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Office released a statement detailing yesterday's repulsion of Turkish forces from Haftanin border, and providing information about another action carried out by guerrillas in Oremar.
The HPG statement gave the following detailed information about yesterday's operation carried out by Turkish border units accompanied by gangs and the village guards at the border of Haftanin, Medya Defense Zones.
TURKISH OPERATION AT HAFTANIN BORDER
"On March 11, in the morning hours, a group consisting of Turkish soldiers and gangs entered Keçel Hill and Bêzenikê area at the border of Haftanin area. At 08:00 hours, this operation group tried to move towards Partizan Hill. The movement of this operation group was recognized by our guerrillas and stopped with effective shots. During the time of the clashes, the Turkish army bombed the Qesrok, Partizan and Geliyê Pisaxa areas heavily with howitzers and mortars, and after 11:00 hours, the warplanes bombarded the slopes of Partizan hill.
After intense bombardments on the slopes of Partizan hill, Turkish soldiers attempted to infiltrate again at 16:00. The clashes continued until 18:00 between our Guerrillas who immediately responded to this infiltration attempt and the group of soldiers and gangs. While this attempt of the Turkish army was foiled, the operational units in the area of Keçel Hill and Bêzenikê were withdrawn. There is no clear information on soldier and gang losses in these clashes."
HPG noted that they lost contact with two guerrillas during clashes, and information on these guerrillas will be shared once obtained.
GUERRILLA ACTION IN OREMAR
HPG Press Office continued, giving details of an action carried out by guerrillas in Oremar region in the countryside of Hakkari province.
Accordingly, guerrillas conducted targeted actions against Turkish soldiers on Martyr Rahime hill in Oremar region in Hakkari's Yüksekova district between 5:00 pm and 08:30 am on March 10. Two soldiers were killed in the targeted actions and one other was killed as guerrillas hit the soldiers that came to the scene afterwards.
Turkish warplanes bombarded the area which was also targeted with mortar and howitzer fire in the wake of the action that was carried out in memory of the guerrillas who fell recently.
HPG reported another action by guerrillas, in which positions of the Turkish military unit on Koordine hill on the border of Hakkari's Çukurca district was hit with heavy weapons on March 10, at 10:00 pm. The number of soldiers killed or wounded in this action couldn't be clarified, HPG added.
