HPG reported that yesterday's action in Van province left 18 police and special operations members dead.
HPG Press Office released a written statement detailing the action that targeted AKP provincial building, police check point and containers of special operations police (PÖH) in Van's central Beşyol area yesterday.
The statement said a barrel bomb that was fired by Turkish jets in Northern Kurdistan but did not explode, was placed in a car and detonated near the police teams guarding the AKP provincial building in yesterday's action. HPD stated that the action was carried out in retaliation for the attacks of AKP forces that raid neighborhoods and murder youths in Van, and in response to the appointment of trustees that ignore the will of the Kurdish people.
According to the statement, the action was carried out in the area housing the AKP building, police check point and three containers where special operations police (PÖH) teams were stationed at 10:45 on September 12. HPG noted that the Governor's Office is also located near the scene.
HPG said the AKP building and police containers were greatly demolished and 3 armored vehicles were destroyed as a result of the action.
HPG reported that 18 police and special operations members were killed and more than 30 AKP state officials and PÖH members were wounded in the action.
