HPG Commander: Guerrilla will retaliate attacks in kind

HPG Commander Serhildan Rugeş Hêvi stressed that HPG and YJA-STAR guerrillas will continue defending South Kurdistan under all circumstances.

Serhildan Rugeş Hêvi, a commander for People’s Defense Forces (HPG), spoke to ANF about Turkey’s attacks and invasion attempts against Xakurkê (Hakurk) area in southern Kurdistan, northern Iraq.

According to Hêvi, these attacks are related with the defeat suffered by the Turkish state against guerrillas. He said one other reason of the aggression is the political and economic crisis the AKP/Erdoğan fascism finds itself in.

GUERRILLA WILL RETALIATE IN KIND

HPG Commander Hêvi pointed out that the invading Turkish army is faced with the iron will of the guerrilla in Bradost and Xakurkê areas, and that the Turkish state achieves no results from its invasion attacks.

Hêvi said the fascist government of AKP-MHP is being through a great deadlock in the face of the guerrilla resistance, noting that the Turkish state has called for snap elections to overcome this deadlock. He remarked that the Turkish state will continue its invasion attempts with its current aggressive policies, underlining that HPG and YJA-STAR (Free Women’s Troops) guerrillas are ready to fight everywhere and anytime.

Hevî said the resistance mounted in Xakurkê and all around Kurdistan is growing day by day and will bring about the end of AKP-MHP rule. He insisted that Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla will continue to retaliate any fascist attack instantly and in kind.

THE WAR WILL EXPAND

Remarking that HPG and YJA-STAR guerrillas are giving a heroic fight against the invasion attempts, HPG Commander said the following; “Attacks against our people living in Bradost region are ongoing since winter months. The AKP-MHP fascist dictatorship tries to deepen its invasion attacks to depopulate the Bradost region. We, Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla, are mounting historic resistance against invasion attacks as the guerrilla is the defense force in four parts of Kurdistan, and of all peoples. For this very reason, the guerrilla cannot be expected to remain silent or inactive in the face of invasion attacks.”

HPG commander said HPG and YJA-STAR guerrillas have carried out several effective actions against the invading Turkish army, as result of which dozens of soldiers have been killed so far. He noted that the activity and maneuver capacity of the guerrilla is increasing despite the increasingly ongoing activities and attacks of the Turkish troops in the region.

Hevî stressed that HPG and YJA-STAR guerrillas, whose resistance against invasion attacks has become permanent, will not allow the fascist AKP-MHP rule to remain standing. He said the war with the Turkish state will become even more violent in the coming period as -he added- the battle will not remain limited to Bashur (South) or Bakur (North) Kurdistan. He warned that the war could affect a much larger territory as a whole.

THEY CAN’T FIGHT ON THE GROUND

Pointing out that the Turkish state’s Kurdish hostility has no limits, Hevî said the Turkish state’s invasion attacks are closely related with its historical animosity against the Kurds.

HPG Commander pointed out that the Turkish state wants to create a de-facto buffer zone along the border line and in Bradost region on the pretext of security, in an attempt to hinder the 40-year-old victory and freedom march of the guerrilla. He said Turkish troops can’t engage in a battle with the guerrilla on the ground, and therefore resort to intense technical means against guerrilla forces.

Hevî said Turkish forces in the area under the siege of guerrillas who are fighting with great commitment and will.

CIVILIANS ARE TARGETED

Hêvi noted that the Turkish army is intensely using technics, resorts to air strikes and targets civilians in Bradost region.

Remarking that the ongoing invasion attacks of the Turkish army target civilian settlements, Hevî said; “Unable to achieve a result from invasion attacks, the Turkish army is targeting the living areas of our people in Bradost region. They are conducting random bombardments with howitzer and mortar fire. Villagers cannot go out and graze their animals. Nor can they do their agricultural and animal husbandry works, which is the only source of income for them. One villager was even hit by airstrikes and died. The Turkish state wants to make people leave the region.”

ATTACKS NOT INDEPENDENT FROM KDP

Remarking that Barzani and KDP have a part in the ongoing invasion attacks along the border of South Kurdistan, HPG Commander called attention to KDP’s silence in the face of attacks.

Hêvi added that HPG and YJA-STAR guerrillas will continue defending South Kurdistan under all circumstances.
