Guerrilla commander Zinar Sason has died in a Turkish air attack on southern Kurdistan, northern Iraq.
According to the Press Office of the People's Defense Forces (HPG), guerrilla commander Zinar Sason (Fadıl Ekinci) has been martyred. He was seriously injured in a Turkish air raid on the Medya Defense Zones on 6 April and did not survive despite all efforts.
The statement by HPG Press Office said the following on the martyrdom of commander Zinar Sason: "Our comrade Zınar was born in Batman, a place where fascism has the most severe repression against the Kurdish people and where patriotism is particularly strong. Zinar witnessed the oppression and torture by the enemy as a child. He and his family were driven from their land. The family moved to metropolis and Zinar experienced the hardships of the struggle for survival at a young age. He was filled with great anger against the enemy and a deep patriotic consciousness when he joined the PKK in 2008 in his quest for freedom. Our comrade Zinar, who was known both for his fighting spirit and his diligence, fought from the first day of his participation in the guerrilla ranks until his death in the most difficult region, the Zagros area. He held important positions there and became a leading commander."
The HPG expressed their condolences to the family of Zinar Sason and the patriotic people of Kurdistan and vowed to continue the fight of the martyrs.
