The Press Office of People's Defense Forces (HPG) reported that guerrillas targeted Turkish military special units in the countryside of Şırnak province in Northern Kurdistan. According to this, the action took place last Tuesday in Uludere, a district in the province of Şırnak that borders on Southern Kurdistan.
Regarding the details of the action, the statement said that the special units of the Turkish military were first observed in the area between the villages of Osyan and Aqir before the action against the "enemy positions" on Hill Şehîd Kahraman took place in the evening of July 14. According to HPG, two positions and a tent accommodation were targeted from close range and destroyed. The deaths of five members of the unit have been confirmed. In addition, a radio base station on the hill was destroyed during the action. The HPG said that the action in Uludere was carried out in retaliation for the martyrs in the Heftanin resistance.
Air attacks against Southern Kurdistan
HPG also reported that the Turkish Air Force bombed the guerrilla controlled Medya Defense Zones in Southern Kurdistan yesterday. According to HPG, air strikes were carried out against the area of Şikefta Birindara in the Zap region as well as the areas of Goşine and the Rotê-Alm in Xakurke. There were no losses in the ranks of the HPG or the women's troops YJA-Star.
