HPG: Guerrillas hit Turkish forces in Metina, destroying an emplacement

HPG/YJA Star guerrillas struck the Turkish troops in Metina with heavy weapons and destroyed an emplacement.

The Press Centre of the People’s Defense Forces (HPG) released a statement about the latest guerrilla actions and the Turkish army attacks in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

As part of the Cenga Xabur Revolutionary Campaign in the Metîna region:

On October 5 at 09:30, the Turkish soldiers on Hill Azad were struck by our forces with heavy weapons. An emplacement of the Turkish forces here was destroyed during the action which was carried out to hail the Werxelê fighters. The number of Turkish soldiers killed and injured here could not be identified.

In the Werxelê Resistance Area in the Avaşîn region:

On 5 October at 23:20 and in the morning hours on October 6, the Turkish army bombed the Werxelê Resistance Area with heavy weapons and explosives.

On October 5, between 20:10 and 00:20, Turkish helicopter activity was observed over the areas of Werxelê, Banista, Mervanos, Girê Silêman and Tabûra Ereba in the Avaşîn region. During the same hours, the Geliyê Basya, Girê Şehîd Intîkam and Gire Kartal areas were bombed by attack helicopters.

On October 5, between 21:20 and 23:00, Turkish helicopter activity was observed over the Qaşura line of the Metîna region. During the same hours, the vicinity of the villages of Deşîşê, Hirore, Kêste, Sararû and Kela Qûmriyê and Koordîne areas were bombed by attack helicopters.

On October 5, between 10:00 and 10:30, the vicinity of the Lolan River, Sinînê and Goşîne areas in the Xakurkê region were bombed by Turkish fighter jets.

On October 6, at 08:20, the vicinity of the Lolan River was again bombed by fighter jets. The fires started by the Turkish bombings continue.”
