Gelhat Koçer

Gelhat Koçer was born into a nomadic family in Şirnex-Hezex and belonged to the Didêrî tribe. He grew up with the authentic culture of Kurdistan in a natural environment. Due to his family's nomadic lifestyle, he got to know many areas in Botan and acquired in-depth local knowledge as a child.

When he traveled through the mountains with his animals as a shepherd, he always hoped to encounter the guerrillas. In view of the oppression of his people, he wanted to contribute to the freedom struggle. In 2015, he joined a guerrilla group in Botan. Because he was used to life in the mountains, the adjustment was not difficult for him. He received initial training and passed on his experience to other fighters.

Later, he went to the Medya Defense Areas and took part in a comprehensive education program. He studied the analysis by Abdullah Öcalan and dealt with his own personality. In the process, he realized that theory and practice belong together in the apoist movement. By enriching his nomadic culture with the PKK ideology, he became a valued militant. He was trusted and took on important and critical tasks.

As the Turkish attacks on the Medya Defense Areas intensified, he participated in the resistance without reservation. His militant personality, his warm and sincere behavior and his courage in the war gave strength to his fellow fighters.

The HPG stated: "Heval Gelhat took a place in the liberation history of our people and fought for the values he believed in until his last breath."

Doğan Amûdê

Doğan Amûdê was born in Deir ez-Zor in eastern Syria and belonged to the Omerî tribe. Although he grew up outside Kurdistan and attended a state high school, he retained his Kurdish identity.

His family was close to the Kurdish freedom movement, so he knew about the PKK's struggle. He took part in the popular uprisings that broke out in Syria in 2011 and joined one of the first resistance groups in Rojava. As a young Kurd, he saw it as his responsibility to defend the Rojava revolution.

In 2013, he was wounded in the head in a battle against an Islamist group. His injury strengthened his fight. He studied the philosophy of Abdullah Öcalan. From 2014, he fought against ISIS on various fronts and showed great courage. When he decided to dedicate his entire life to the revolution, he took part in ideological and military training and became a professional militant of the apoist movement. Eventually, he joined the guerrillas in the mountains, fulfilling a childhood dream.

Due to his war and ideological experience, he was able to quickly adapt to his new living conditions and put them into practice. He was intelligent and, among other things, technically skilled. With these skills, he managed many of the tasks that arose in Metîna. When the region was the focus of Turkish occupation attacks from 2021, he offered determined resistance. He fought on the front lines until the end.
