Guerrilla Soro Xizginos fell as a martyr in Gare two years ago. The HPG paid tribute to him in a statement.
The Press Center of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) has published a statement for a fallen guerrilla: "We respectfully commemorate our comrade Soro Xizginos, who joined the caravan of the martyrs in Gare on 23 July 2022."
Code name: Soro Xizginos
First and last name: Azad Yandı
Place of birth: Amed
Mother and father's names: Zeynep - Mehmet
Date and place of death: July 23, 2022 / Gare
According to the HPG, Soro Xizginos was born in Amed and grew up in a political environment with the ethical values of the Kurdish community. Like many Kurdish children, he experienced his first conflict with the Turkish state doctrine when he started school because his mother tongue was forbidden. He questioned state oppression and social events in Kurdistan and his role models were an aunt and uncle who had joined the PKK.
"He dreamed of becoming a guerrilla and got a little closer to Kurdistan's freedom struggle every day," said the HPG in the statement.
Soro attended state schools for eight years and tried hard to preserve his own identity. The revolution in Rojava inspired him and he wanted to take part in the resistance against ISIS. For various reasons, he was initially unable to do so. For a while he was active in the youth movement and at the time of the resistance for self-government in North Kurdistan he joined a guerrilla group in the mountains of Amed.
According to the HPG, Soro came from Amed to the Medya Defense Areas for basic training and then took on various tasks. His cousin Rewşen Amed (Ummu Cihat Atlı) was killed in the Zagros Mountains in 2016. Her death was a reason for Soro to fight even harder.
His basic benchmark in all tasks was the goal of doing justice to the fight of the fallen and to be successful. To achieve this, he continued to educate himself and studied the requirements of modern guerrilla warfare intensively.
The HPG paid tribute to Soro Xizginos as an exemplary militant who went down in the history of the Kurdish freedom struggle with his determined and unreserved attitude.
