Binevş Agal came from a patriotic family in Mardin, but was born in Riha-Wêranşar. Her grandfather Abdulrahman Ata was murdered by unknown perpetrators in 1990, her two uncles Welat Ata and Mehmet Şirin Ata fell in the 1990s in the Kurdish liberation struggle. Her father was in prison for years.
Binevş became politically active as a teenager and was imprisoned himself for a short time. In 2014 she joined the guerrilla in Botan. After that she was in Besta.
As the HPG write, Binevş was happy and curiosity and was characterized by a sharp mind and a passionate connection to the freedom struggle. She quickly advanced and was trained to be a professional sniper.
In the spring of 2016, Binevş was injured in an air raid in Besta, five of her comrades-in-arms were killed. The incident increased her desire for vengeance, and she returned to the Medya Defense Areas after her recovery in the fall of the same year. In 2017 she stayed at the Mahsum Korkmaz Academy and emerged from the course as one of the commanders of modern guerrilla warfare.
In the time that followed, she took on special tasks that required a great deal of trust in her. Their last operational area was the Kuro Jahro. Binevş Agal fought as commander on the Kuro Jahro for days with great courage against the Turkish invading troops. Faced with the resistance it led, the army used chemical warfare in its helplessness.
Rojbin Agiri Serhed
Rojbîn Agirî Serhed came from a family from Geliyê Zîlan, the Zîlan Valley in Erdîş, Van Province, and was born in Agirî. She grew up with the memories of her relatives of the great massacre of 1930 in Geliyê Zîlan that killed thousands. Several of her relatives joined the Kurdish liberation struggle, some were killed. The reality of Kurdistan dug into her subconscious early on.
As an adolescent, she also found the traditional role of women in Kurdish society unbearable. She became active in the youth movement and motivated many young people to take part in the liberation struggle. In 2013 she dropped out of college and joined the guerrillas.
She completed basic training in the mountains, in 2014 she went to Rojava to defend Kobanê against the Islamic State and was wounded. After the victory in Kobanê, she stayed in Rojava until the defeat of the ISIS and showed herself to be an exemplary and disciplined militant. After that, she returned to the Medya Defense Areas. Already a competent fighter, she focused on her ideological education. At the beginning of the Turkish invasion, she went to the Zap region and took part in numerous actions against the enemy. Most recently, she fought with great sacrifice at Kuro Jahro.
Ciya Amed
Çiya Amed was born in Êlih-Beşîrî and moved to a Turkish city with her family as a child. Her family was patriotic and she grew up with Kurdish culture.
She went to Amed to study, where she made closer contact with the liberation movement and got to know Kurdistan. She decided to take up arms after the terrible attack on a peace rally in Ankara in 2015, which killed over a hundred people.
She went to the Medya Defense Areas and stayed in Heftanin for five years. After that, she completed special training in sabotage tactics at a military academy and came to the Zap region. Her last operational area was the Kuro Jahro, where she took part in numerous actions under the leadership of the fallen commander Mizgîn Ronahî and participated in the construction of the defense structures.
Bêrîtan Sine
Bêrîtan Sine was born in Sine (Sanandaj) in Eastern Kurdistan. In order to free herself as a woman and Kurd, she did research and read a lot. She spoke three Kurdish dialects and learned three other languages.
For a while she was active in various Kurdish organizations, then she opted for the paradigm of a grassroots democratic, gender-liberated and ecological society presented by Abdullah Öcalan and joined the guerrillas at Newroz 2017.
In the mountains, she quickly developed and took on various tasks. She trained as a sniper at a military academy and went to the Zap region in 2018. There she fought in a mobile unit and was last at Kuro Jahro, where she resisted the Turkish invasion for days.
Roni Baki
Roni Baki was born in Hatay. His family was patriotic and had to leave Kurdistan due to the prevailing expulsion policy. One of Roni's uncles died in the liberation struggle and he himself was active in the youth movement until he joined the guerrillas in 2015. He was in the Zap region for basic training and then went to Cîlo. After a short practice in the Cilo area, he went to Shengal to take part in the liberation offensive against the Islamic State. In the fight against ISIS, he gained a lot of experience and became a commander. After the liberation of Shengal, he returned to the Zap as a senior commander in 2018. Already during the invasion last year, he showed great competence in implementing the new guerrilla tactics. That year, he was instrumental in turning the Kuro Jahro into a resistance fortress and inflicting heavy casualties on the enemy.
Devran Riha
Devran Riha was born in Riha and grew up in a patriotic environment. He rejected Kurdistan's colonial status and looked for ways to fight against it. In 2019 he decided to join the armed struggle and went to the mountains.
He quickly learned to adapt to his new living conditions and focused on his military skills. After his training, he proposed himself to a combat zone and came to the Zap region. The HPG described him as a sincere person who was deeply connected to his companions and had a successful practice. Already in 2021, his firm stance against the Turkish invasion was a source of morale and strength for those around him. He took part in numerous actions and most recently fought at the Kuro Jahro.
