HPG Media Center issued a written statement and informed the public about recent guerilla actions in Şırnak and Mardin where 3 soldiers were killed and one Skorsky helicopter was damaged.

HPG stated that Turkish warplanes bombarded the Sheikh İslam tomb located in the Dereshê village of Duhok's Amediye district as airstrikes against guerrilla areas continued from yesterday evening till today morning.

The statement said guerillas carried out a sabotage action against Turkish soldiers who were preparing for an operation on the road between Selekunê and Xerabê villages of Şırnak’s Hezex district at 13:30 on February 29. Three soldiers were killed and several others were injured during this action, and the Turkish army removed the bodies of its dead soldiers with armored vehicles.

Another action by guerrillas targeted a Skorksy helicopter that was flying over the Xelîla village of Mardin’s Kerboran district at 10:00 on February 28. The helicopter got damaged and had to leave the area soon after the action.

HPG continued, providing details regarding the aerial strikes conducted by Turkish military against guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones. Accordingly, warplanes of the Turkish army bombarded;

- Şikefta YAJK region of Metina between 15:30 and 16:00,

- Saca village of Zap between 16:00 and 16:30,

- Deşta Kafya region of Garê between 16:30 and 17:00,

- Sheikh İslam tomb and Segîrê village in Dereşê village of Duhok's Amediye district between 20:00 and 21:00,

- Kanireş region and Siro hill in Xakurke area between 21:30 and 03:00 on February 29.

Turkish drones carried out reconnaissance flights over;

- Qandil region of Media Defense Zones between 09:00 and 18:00,

- Heftanin region between 18:00 and 06:00,

- Avashin region between 19:30 and 06:00,

- Garê region between 13:00 and 09:00,

- Zap region between 12:00 and 06:00,

- Xakurke region between 21:00 and 03:00 on February 29.

HPG also reported Turkish aerial activity over;

- Gundê Filleha region of Zap between 12:00 and 17:00,

- Avashin region between 19:30 and 06:00 on February 29.

Turkish artillery from the Bilican and Eriş military posts in Hakkari’s Çukurca district bombarded the hills of Martyr Newal and Xeregol between 18:00-20:00 and 18:30-19:00, respectively.

Cobra helicopters bombarded the Herekol region of Siirt between 13:00 and 14:00 on February 29.
