HPG reports attacks by Turkish army and road control by guerrillas

HPG reported that guerrillas seized control of the roads between Amed-Bingöl and Amed-Kulp from 16:00 to 18:00 yesterday evening. Guerrillas performed ID control on the people travelling on both roads, and informed them about the ongoing process of war in the Kurdish region.

Recalling that the Turkish army had starated an extensive operation in Şex Cuma area of Bitlis province on 21 December, HPG said one guerrilla fell a martyr in a clash with Turkish soldiers one day later. ID details of the fallen guerrilla will be announced later, it added.

BOMBARDMENT AGAINST METİNA AND ZAP

HPG statement reported that Martyr Mazlum, Martyr Şoreş and Hill Hakkari were bombed by Turkish troops deployed at Hill Sor outpost near the border to Metina area of guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones between 02.00 – 03.00 last night.

Between 16.00 – 17.00 yesterday, troops at Bilican outpost near the border to Zap targeted surrounding areas with random fire by heavy arms.

TURKISH JETS SHELLED QANDİL

The statement said Turkish jets shelled the surroundings of Silê and Ebubekir villages in Qandil region of Medya Defense Zones at 00:30 last night.

HPG also reported reconnaissance activities by Turkish aircraft over the following locations of Medya Defense Zones;

- Qandil region between 22.30–00.00 yesterday,

- Heftanin area between 05.30–18.00 yesterday,

- Zap region between 12.30-14.30 yesterday, and from 20:00 yesterday till 03:00 today

- Metina area between 22.30–06.30 on 28–29 December,

- Avashin area between 22.30–02.30 on 28–29 December.

The statement by HPG also reported an activity of Turkish warplanes over;

- Zap region between 22.00–23.00 yesterday, and 02.00–03.00 today,

- Avashin area between 22.30 yesterday and 02.30 today,

- Metina area between 02.00–03.00 today.
