HPG reports clashes in Turkish military operation area in Çukurca

HPG Press Office stated that bombardment by Turkish military forces and clashes with guerrillas continue in several locations in Hakkari's Çukurca district where an operation by Turkish army continues since yesterday.

HPG Press Office released a statement providing details about the Turkish military operation and ongoing clashes in Hakkari's Çukurca district.

According to the statement, bombardment by Turkish military forces and clashes with guerrillas continue in several locations.

HPG reported that Turkish military forces are intensely shelling the Martyr Colomerg Hill, surrounding hamlets and Geliyê Zap region in Ertuş area of Çukurca since 08:00 Wednesday morning.

Guerrillas hit and downed a Turkish drone activating over Martyr Mazlum area at 08:00 on August 30. The drone was later seized by guerrillas.

Turkish jets bombarded the Martyr Colomerg Hill and surrounding hamlets at 19:30 on August 30. Following the bombardment, Cobra-type helicopters hit the same area and Turkish troops started an operation. Clashes between soldiers and guerrillas continue in several locations.

Turkish outposts in the area are bombing the operation area with howitzer and mortar fire since 20:00 Tuesday evening.

HPG said detailed information on the ongoing operation will be released once available.

HPG added that Turkish jets bombed Garêya Piçuk and Martyr Dılşad hills on Çukurca border Wednesday noon.
