Four Turkish soldiers have been killed in guerrilla actions in Xakurke and Şırnak, one HPG fighter was martyred in the course of a military operation in Cudi. In Southern Kurdistan, the Medya Defence Zones were bombed again.

According to the press centre of the People's Defense Forces (Hêzên Parastina Gel, HPG), three soldiers of the Turkish army died during a guerrilla action in the Xakurke region of Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq). The action took place last Friday and was directed against military positions on the closely spaced hills Şehîd Axîn and Şehîd Bêrîtan. A shelter and a surveillance camera were destroyed.

In the statement, the HPG also gives details about the military operation that was launched by the Turkish army in the area around Mount Cudi in province Şırnak at the beginning of the week. In the Gelîyê Hesena area, clashes between the HPG, the women's guerrilla force YJA-Star and Turkish operational units took place on 13 July and at least one soldier was killed. The fighter Alîşêr Hebûn was killed in the resistance. Following the fighting, the combat area was arbitrarily bombed by attack helicopters, and more troops were airdropped to the region on July 14. One day later, the Turkish military withdrew again.

HPG also announced the martyrdom of guerrilla Alîşêr Hebûn who was born in Silopiya in 1997 as the son of a patriotic family. Already as a child he was confronted with the Turkish state's "genocidal extermination policy" against the Kurdish people, so he joined the guerrillas at the age of 17. "He fought with the maxim 'abandonment leads to betrayal, resistance to victory' until the last bullet and joined the Caravan of Immortals at the Cudi. We offer our condolences to his family,” the statement said.

The statement also reported continued air raids by the Turkish army against Medya Defense Zones. Fighter jets attacked the Kurojahro and Karker areas in the Zap region at about 19:30 yesterday, Saturday. There were no guerrilla losses.
