HPG reports guerrilla action in Şemzinan and attack on guerrilla zones

HPG reported an action by guerrillas in Hakkari's Şemzinan district, and bombardment by the Turkish army on Medya Defense Zones in South Kurdistan territory.

HPG reported that guerrillas carried out an action against Turkish soldiers in Şemzinan (Şemdinli) district of Hakkari on March 6.

The statement by HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Centre said:

“On March 6, at 14:00 hours, our forces carried out an action with heavy weapons against the Turkish army's soldiers working on the road between Sivri and Leylek hills of Hakkari's Şemzinan district. The soldiers retreated after the action and at 16.00 acted again for road control. These soldiers who acted were hit once again by our forces with heavy weapons. In these actions, the number of dead and wounded soldiers could not be clarified. After the action, the surrounding police stations bombed Hill Sor and its slopes with howitzers and mortars.”

HPG also reported a bombardment by the Turkish army on Medya Defense Zones, saying;

"On March 6, between 11.30 and 16.00 hours, warplanes of the Turkish army bombarded the area of the Hill Ortê from the Metina area of our Medya Defense Zones. These intensive bombardments have caused great damage in the vineyards and gardens in Asê Village."
