HPG reports ongoing Turkish war crimes in South Kurdistan

The guerrilla armies YJA Star and HPG dedicate their latest actions against the Turkish army to the fallen commander Bêrîvan Zîlan. The Turkish invading forces in southern Kurdistan continue to commit war crimes.

According to the daily statement by the press centre of the People's Defense Forces (HPG), guerrillas continue their actions against the Turkish army that has been conducting an invasion operation in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) since April 14. A soldier was shot dead, and a Turkish army drone destroyed in the latest guerrilla actions led by YJA Star, which took place in retaliation for the fallen commander Bêrîvan Zîlan.

HPG pointed out that the Turkish army continues to commit war crimes. On Monday, eight attacks with prohibited tactical and chemical weapons were carried out against guerrilla positions in the areas of Çemço, Saca, Girê FM and Şikefta Birîndara. On the other hand, Girê Hekarî and Girê Amêdî were bombed four times by fighter jets, and the areas of Kurojahro, Girê Amêdî and Girê FM were attacked 17 times by attack helicopters. Further attacks by the Turkish army were carried out with howitzers and heavy weapons.

Regarding the guerrilla actions on 22 August, HPG reported that an advance by the Turkish invasion forces was repelled in the resistance area of Çemço in the Zap region in the morning. At 5.30 pm, a soldier was shot dead by a sniper.

At Girê Amêdî, a drone was shot down by a YJA Star mobile unit. At Girê Koordîne in Xakurke, guerrillas of YJA Star struck the occupation forces with heavy weapons.
