HPG reports sabotage action by guerrillas in Çukurca

HPG/YJA Star guerrillas carried out a sabotage action against soldiers in the countryside of Hakkari's Çukurca district.

HPG (People's Defense Forces) Press Office released a statement providing information regarding a recent guerrilla action in Çukurca and airstrikes by Turkish army on guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in Southern Kurdistan territory.

Accordingly, guerrillas carried out a sabotage action targeting the soldiers on move near the Cigerwin hill located on the border of Çukurca (Çele) district of Hakkari at 09:00 on January 23. The number of soldiers killed or wounded in the action couldn't be clarified.

On the other hand, HPG said Turkish jets shelled the Deşta Kafya, Bergarê hamlet and surroundings of the Zevka village in Garê area of Medya Defense Zones at between 20.00 - 20.30 on January 24. During the same hours, Turkish warplanes also bombed the Rençbıraxam village in Zap area.

Turkish airstrikes targeted Hill Sor and hillsides at between 18.00 – 20.00, and Ermuşa Jêr hamlet in Xakurke area at between 18.30 - 22.00 the same day.

The bombardments caused no casualties but damaged the fields and orchards of the locals.
