In the Heftanîn region of southern Kurdistan, a recently launched occupation operation has become the target of guerrilla sabotage. At least four members of the Turkish invasion forces were killed in the process, the press office of the People's Defense Forces (HPG) reported in a current war report published on Saturday. The actions took place right at the beginning of the occupation operation on August 2 in the area between the Girê Şehîd Bêrîvan and the Şehîd Çiyager area. In the evening, the Turkish army transported its casualties away from the battle area by helicopter.
Guerrillas carried out another action using sabotage tactics in Bektorya on August 5. During the action on the route between Girê Sîpan and Girê Kartal hills, two occupiers were killed and another injured. After the soldiers were evacuated from the region, the occupation forces launched an operation in Keşan. This was suspended the same day without results. HPG said guerrillas carried out these actions on the occasion of the 37th anniversary of the beginning of the armed struggle of the Kurdish liberation movement on August 15, 1984.
Actions in Zap and Avaşîn
At Girê Sor in Avaşîn, occupation forces attempted to fortify positions and dig trenches on Friday. Guerrilla fire from close range halted the military activities, and the Turkish army was forced to withdraw. In the Zap region, fighters from the YJA Star women's guerrilla group used heavy weapons against occupation forces in Kela Bêdewê. The targets were "successfully" hit, while there is no information on casualties or deaths in the ranks of the Turkish army.
Use of chemical warfare agents
HPG also pointed to further use of chemical warfare agents in Avaşîn: "The Turkish occupation army cannot achieve results in the face of the historic resistance of our guerrilla forces in the war tunnels and continues to commit war crimes with dirty methods." Chemical warfare agents were initially introduced into the underground guerrilla positions in Werxelê eight times on Friday. In the evening, there were several blasts at the defense facility. Reconnaissance flights continue to occur over the region.
Airstrikes in Xakurke
In Xakurke, the Girê Şehîdan area was bombed by warplanes on August 5. On August 6, air strikes targeted Ava Lolan and Girê Şehîd Heqî.
In Mervanos, Tabura Ereba and Banista in Avaşîn, the HPG recorded intense helicopter activity last night. Earlier, the slopes of Girê Sor were attacked with heavy weapons.
Between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Saturday night, grenade attacks were carried out in Amadiya on the outskirts of the villages of Kêste, Derar and Hiror near Kanî Masî.
