People's Defense Forces (HPG) Press Office has released a statement claiming responsibility for today's “sabotage action” on Amed-Bingöl highway.

People's Defense Forces (HPG) Press Office has released a statement claiming responsibility for today's “sabotage action” on Amed-Bingöl highway.

Describing the action by guerrillas as a warning, HPG said this sabotage action was conducted in retaliation to the operational attacks and massacres aimed at the Kurdish people in Cizre, Sur and Hezex (İdil). HPG added that a detailed statement on the action will be released tomorrow.

HPG continued by reporting bombardment by Turkish military against Heftanin area of guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones between 20.30 and 23.00 yesterday evening. Refuting the Turkish reports that 70 PKK members including senior leaders were killed in the airstrikes, HPG said this news had nothing to do with the truth as guerrillas suffered no casualties as a result of the bombardment.

According to official reports, 8 soldiers were killed in today's action near Alibardak neighborhood of Amed's Sur district, which is located at the 45th km of Amed-Bingöl highway.
