People's Defense Forces (HPG) Press Office has released a statement in which it reported attacks by Turkish forces and actions by HPG and YJA-Star guerrillas in response.

HPG said guerrillas carried out an action against a convoy of Turkish armored vehicles between Keya and Karavan villages of Amed's Farqin (Silvan) district at 15:00 yesterday afternoon.

The action by guerrillas left an armored vehicle completely destroyed and one other heavily damaged, while 6 special operation police were killed, including Ahmet Kabukçu, director of special operation police who was recently appointed to Amed from Ankara.

HPG said this action was conducted in response to the massacres committed by Turkish forces in the cities and towns of Northern Kurdistan.

MORTAR AND HOWITZER ATTACKS CONTINUE

HPG continued by giving the following details regarding the ongoing mortar and howitzer attacks by Turkish army against guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in South Kurdistan territory;

Oremar outpost in Hakkari's Yüksekova district shelled Marty Rahime area at the border of Avashin region at 21.00 yesterday evening and at 05:00 this morning.

Bilican outpost at the border to Zap shelled Dola Şifreza area between 10.30 – 11.00 today.

Eriş outpost at the border to Zap shelled Hill Xeregol between 16.30 – 17.00 yesterday.

Hill Sor outpost at the border to Metina shelled hills Martyr Mazlum and Martyr Şoreş between 05.00 – 06.00 yesterday.

AERIAL ACTIVITY OVER GUERRILLA AREAS

HPG provided the following information regarding the aerial activities by Turkish aircraft over the following areas in Medya Defense Zones;

- Heftanin area between 18.30 – 03.00 on December 15-16,

- Garê area between 21.30 – 04.30 on December 15-16,

- Metina area between 17.00 – 22.30 on December 15.

An activity of Turkish warplanes took place over Zap region between 14.30 - 15.30 yesterday.

HPG also reported an intense activity of Cobra and Sikorsky helicopters around Bilican Regiment and Eriş outpost in Hakkari's Çukurca district between 11.30 – 12.00 today.
